Why We Are Thankful….
I am putting aside my paint brush, the stories from the farm, jokes about my donkey and the project list today, in order to bring you something much more gratifying and from my heart.
I am very thankful and blessed ….. that my children have grateful hearts. A core belief that my husband and I walk through our life with daily. We remain conscious of the gifts and feeling of thankfulness in our lives.
This is something we have tried to instill from the very beginning with our children. Teaching and helping them to always give thanks for their blessings despite how big or small they may seem.
Regardless of how unfair life seems to be at times, when you can’t get what you want, someone leaves us, your best friend decides to sit with someone else, or you are fussing with your brother or sister, we will be thankful for the blessings that we do have.
Despite the decisions ( difficult at times ) that mom and dad will make on your behalf, we will be thankful for the guidance and love that we are shown.
Despite the fact that it’s not always fun taking care of all the animals, feeding, cleaning and collecting eggs from the chicken, especially on colder days, we are thankful just to have them.
And even though mom’s not the best cook, we are thankful that there is always food on the table…and a table to sit at.
For this we remain thankful.
I got the precut leaves from Hobby Lobby, spray painted them burnt orange and strung them up with some jute. Used white paint markers for our messages.
Enjoy this beautiful time of the year….with thanks and a grateful heart.

You are certainly blessed to have such a wonderful and loving family and they are blessed to have you. I am thankful to call you friend…..Beautiful mantel and table Laura….you have been blessed with many talents that show in your beautiful home and your beautiful family!
You are blessed with the cutest family and I'm glad to call you friend. Love the leaves with the kid's writing on them.
Beautiful post. I love the leaves. You have a wonderful family, Laura.
Lovely lessons you are instilling in your beautiful children. But should you and your husband be concerned that 'chiken' has top billing? 🙂
Linda
Is there a source for the leaves? Thank you for the wonderful idea. Can't wait to share this on Thanksgiving Day.
Love that you got third ranking after chicken – but at least the donkey isn't in front of you! Happy Thanksgiving
Beautiful Laura! You have a beautiful and blessed family, donkeys and all. Happy Thanksgiving. LOVE the banner of leaves.
The reason for the season…
Thank you for this wonderful, heart-warming post. To be truly grateful is so important. It is great that you make that a focus for your children.
Best,

Such a sweet idea Laura!! I agree that instilling thankfulness into our kids is one of the most important things we can do and I just love your garland especially the leaf with the 'chiken' on it. 😉
I could not agree more Laura! Gratitude has to be the one thing that keeps us grounded and helps us remember we are part of something so far greater than ourselves. Beautiful post!
xoxo
Hmmm… yes. What prouder moment could we possibly have by seeing our children prosper and grow right from under our own wings? You nailed it. Life just seems… right, when they get it.
You all are blessed indeed!
And I love that garland…
Love this Laura!
LOVE this touching and so important post. I applaud you my friend
Cindy
You know you can just feel that sentiment when around you. I did before we even met in person & certainly when we did. No doubt your children are the same way. I am grateful & thankful for our friendship and "anamals" too! xx And the garland is darling!
This is so nice to read this and then really step back and be thankful for all we have because at the end of the day it is a long list.
I love the leaves with the messages! Your life is truly beautiful and blessed…the thing I admire most is that you realize it and are thankful. Blessings Laura!
I loved this post, Laura. It really is so important to be mindfully thankful, isn't it?
I'm so thankful we met this summer and I'm happy to call you friend! 🙂
I love your "thankful leaf garland"! Cute idea. It's always a good idea to make your kids aware of their blessings too.
To cultivate gratitude in our children's hearts is the greatest gift you can give them — and the world at large. Thank you for what you're doing with your kids, Laura… and for sharing your heart. Hugs!! xo Heidi
PS — can't wait to see you!
