Dresser Makeover….and how I saved $1,143
This is all about a dresser makeover, but first…..Oh, how I loved it when gas was $1.50 ( BTW last time was Nov,2008), a good Buy One Get One Sale, which I always seem to spend more then I normally would have, clipping coupons that I remember to bring with me to the grocery store instead of the bottom of my handbag, using my Kohl’s bucks before they expire and……. when I don’t have to spend $1,143 on furniture.
The savings story began when we were working on Lily’s bedroom makeover and my husband suggested we look for a dresser and nightstand that were bigger then what she had in her room and something that she could use for a long time. She was actually ‘borrowing’ the guest room dresser for the last few years and I knew that she would eventually outgrow it…she is a girl after all.
So I was pretty set on this one here with the matching nightstand. It was pretty and just the look I was after for her room. I really wanted it, but didn’t want to spend the money….. You know how that goes. Besides, I was too busy spending it all on the BOGO’S.
Savings perfection!
And so I leave you with some inspiration on saving money, a dresser makeover and these roses. I realize the roses have nothing to do with the furniture makeover, but I thought they were pretty.
So, what’s your big savings story?
Laura, those pieces are beautiful and so perfect for her room! I need to do the same thing for my sons but ugh….don't enjoy that kind of work.
Wow, you did a fabulous job. Love the added fabric and those crystal knobs.
Laura, what a beautiful job you did! Love the bling and the surprise in the drawers! Have a great weekend!
Laura, they are gorgeous and something she will love for years. xo Laura
They look so beautiful, Laura. What a great transformation, and they look great in Lily's room.
Although they look amazing, I have a hard time with the thought of distroying an antique piece (or 2) of furniture. I love my antiques and this just goes against my grain.
Now THAT took VISION! Love love love this transformation, Laura — she'll be set for a long time. 🙂 Have a blessed weekend!

Laura they turned out beautiful…love how paint makes all the details pop!! I bought the same crystal knobs in HD for the chest in Victoria's room.
I Love a bargain!! The dressers came out gorgeous!! That was a great idea to cover the cardboard in fabric and put it the drawers. Thank you for that tip : )
Beautiful! Can I ask you what kind of paint sprayer you use. We seem to have nothing but problems with sprayers. It looks as though you got a beautiful finish. Thanks!
Whoa – those turned out amazing!! You are amazing!
Wow- What an amazing makeover. It looks like really good sturdy pieces, too. You did a wonderful job on both pieces. Love the drawer liners, too. xo Diana
Beautiful…..they look new. You did a great job!
Wow…they look new! So pretty in white. Sheila@mykentuckyliving
Wow! I bet if the person who sold that to you could see it now, he would be sorry he sold it. It looks great! You did such a professional job. I never thought about using a paint sprayer before. I bet that also saved a lot of time.
I can just see you working your charm on that sales person to let you just buy 2 pieces!…:)
Hmm…well as you know I am still working "my little girl's room" and my bargain story is that I got her dresser, mirror, night stand, headboard/footboard and pretty much a new mattress for $250.00….I did not have to charm anyone, it was my neighbors parents guest room furniture in which they only had one guest stay over!!!…
I so love Lily's room!!!…Have a great weekend!
Your find is lovely and I really like the inside of the drawers. 🙂
What an eye for detail! And the exact detail you desired! Amazing transformation! Quality furniture and a quality paint job!
Love, Love, Love!
That is the most precious girl's room I've ever seen. You need to get to the magazines!
