Easy Bookcase Makeover….. using Wallpaper
I love it when an unexpected idea creates so much sweetness that it’s oozing out of the bookcase.
Example- Take this rather neutral, a tad bit boring for a 6 year old, great bones of a bookcase. It’s been sitting in Lily’s room patiently now for a couple of years , just waiting for it’s turn to shine.
Remember the wallpaper project here, well I had some left over paper, that I just love, and decided to use it on the backside of the case. I gave the bookcase 2 coats of white paint before I applied the wall paper.
There is just something about that bookcase with its new paper and paint color that really creates a statement, and shows off the personality of the occupant of this rather girly bedroom. Even the books look prettier sitting on the shelf.
it’s finally arrived.
Do you have a piece of furniture waiting for it’s moment?
For another idea that will add loads of personality to a back of a bookcase try applying a piece of fabric using spray adhesive.
Grateful
for a sweet little girl who likes to read and loves pink!

Love that wallpaper!!! Lily's painted bookcase turned out so pretty and has the perfect pop of color. The green mirror is super snazzy looking too!
It's adorable! Such a cute idea and it really livens up the bookcase.

That looks so cute. I like how it ties in with the rest of her room.
This looks great! I can't believe what a difference it makes…it has so much more personality now!
I absolutely love how it turned out! And, the green paint on the mirror is the perfect compliment. What a lucky girl to sleep in that room! Great job, Laura!
Looks great!
Another great project in this gorgeous room! Of course, I was looking at the books on the bookshelf and saw – "Are You My Mother" – that was one of my boys' favorites!
I adore that wallpaper and that bookcase truly does shine now!!!
🙂 Linda
Fabulous wallpaper that brought that bookcase to a whole new level..Great job Laura…beautiful bookcase for a beautiful girl!!
You lucky-lucky girl!!
First, for having that awesome piece to work on, and second, for having a pink lover. 😉
That wall paper is swoon worthy and delicious!!!!!!!
Fabulous job–it looks great! You can also use wrapping paper and removable poster tape for the back of a bookcase. I did: http://www.debraholster.com/ikea-bookcase-improved/
Wowza! I am going to do this (or the fabric tip) on my family room built-ins. The entire room is dark, with full judges paneling — which we may or may not paint. The built-ins are also stained. But fabric or wallpaper on the interior backs would really brighten things up!
Laura, I love this, so much fun and so pretty especially for a sweet little girl!

I am so impressed, her bookcase is incredible. Good for you Mom, she'll love it so much. The white polka dots in wall paper go so well with white on bookcase and the Apple Green mirror picks up the green in wall paper. Very luck little girl to have such a talented Mom and gorgeous room. Must have been fun putting wall paper in the book case. Bravo. Happy days
It's beautiful ! It's turned it into a statement piece !
I've been putting wallpaper on the back of hutches too 🙂
xoxo
Cute, cute!! My teen is using paint for her builtins. I love how color in the back can make every thing new!
