DIY Summer Ice bucket

A cold drink anyone? I don’t know about you, but when I am outside on a hot summer day the last thing I want to do is run inside 15 times for cold drinks.
But no problem, they are chilling on the back deck as we sit here and chat on a hot summer day. Thanks for my DIY summer ice bucket.

I figured it was about time to find a way to keep drinks chillin outside, instead of running back and forth into the house every time I was parched.  I created an ice bucket out of an old plant stand and metal planter. Here’s the items that I used. This is an easy project that any skill level can handle.

Step 1:
Clean off your stuff. When I am not using this plant stand it has served as a paint pedestal so i gave it a a couple coats of outdoor spray paint.

Step 2:
Spray paint your stuff one color. I used a metal planter as my ice bucket. I gave it a couple coats of outdoor spray paint.

Step 3:
To create a bit of fun with my bucket I gave it some stripes.  I chose a color called Eden for my green stripes and white for my other.

In between these steps, take the paint off to reveal your stripes.

Step 4:
Fill your bucket up with lots of ice. Place waters and other beverages in your new bucket.

Step 5:
Enjoy a cold beverage…and conversation

  1. Very cute idea! Your blog is very inspirational. I'm just starting a new blog and would love to team up with you and other bloggers.

  2. Laura this is a really great project and I love the colors you chose. Enjoy those cold beverages. With no children ours would be filled with wine or wine coolers, fur babies don't count for this one, LOL!

  3. I have a nice big metal container, white, that we used for beverages back before blogging. Nothing the matter with it, but you've inspired me to add a little something something to it. Stripes or words, or both.

  4. This is adorable, Laura! I want to find something for drinks for the summer and love knowing I can paint whatever I find! I love pops of color when I'm having guests. Of course, you know I like lots of color anyway!

I'm late visiting from the tour but I'm pinning and appreciate you joining us again! Have a great weekend!
