Creating A Cozy Home Tour- Winter Mantel Idea

I think Mother Nature or Jack Frost are teasing us this year…. and big time.
Don’t you?

I mean, near 0 degree temps last week ……and still NO SNOW!
But she…or he,  did manage to help facilitate a broken water pipe and leave us without water on the coldest morning of the year!

And so the Winter Mantel remains yet a constant reminder of what my kids want to see so much this winter….snow.

Until then, they will have to settle for some faux snowball like balls that I picked up at Pier One last year and used here. And my dollar store snowflakes that are strung with fresh evergreen, from the Norfolk pines that I used in the house for Christmas.

A few grapevine balls scattered around and the “Let It Snow” sign that I picked up on clearance and also used here.

So, I will keep the sign up through the Winter months,  along with a little wishful thinking that maybe one morning my children will wake up to lots of fluffy white stuff outside…….and no broken water pipes!

If not, the Winter mantel this year will have to do.

Enjoy the winter season!

  1. Jack Frost has done more than nip at my nose, I think Mother Nature set him up to take a bigger bite this year. You shall have some snow, next week. I have a vision.

  2. That's a cute idea for Winter. You're right, no snow yet! I'm hoping for some too. I don't really like the extreme cold weather, but if we're going to have it, mine as well have some snow to go along with it right? We have a couple of sleds in our basement that have cobwebs growing on them. LOL! There is hope for snow this Wednesday. Have you heard?

  3. You should have brought them over to our home in the maritimes last month! It's FINALLY starting to melt – but we couldn't even get out our back door! Haha. Wishing you a 'healthy' amount of snow soon. πŸ˜‰

  4. To be honest snow is not all it is cracked up to be. It makes a mess, especially with pets. It makes everything wet and dirty. It is also slippery and hard to walk at times. Don't mind the cold hate the snow and ice!!! Love the mantle though, Laura.

  5. LOL, ONE day of snow is not a LOT to ask for huh? We have some forecast for Thursday but I am not holding my breath. I adore your snowflake garland. So pretty with the fresh greenery. Very pretty mantel, Laura. xxoo ~B

  6. Laura, I'm right there with your kids and your wonderful mantle and message…wishing for snow! We had the same weather but fortunately no broken water pipes. Love your Norfolk pine swag!

  7. Laura, I'm thinking your kind of snow is all the snow I want this year. Think you can talk to Mother Nature and Jack Frost about turning up the thermostat out there? I'm ready for spring, even though I do love your wintry mantel.

  8. Oh-How I wish I could send you some snow! We have tons here- TONS and five more inches coming tonight. Maybe we could swap houses for a week?;>) xoDiana

  9. I LOVE your snow-y mantel Laura!! It is the perfect transition after Christmas and is most definitely cozy. We've had some wacky weather here in Oregon too with record low temps so I completely relate. So glad to be part of the tour with you my friend!

  10. Laura, so sorry about your frozen pipe! Your mantel is gorgeous with the lacy snowflakes against the greenery. Love the bowl of snowballs and hopefully we'll see a little of the white stuff this season. Usually if you guys get snow, so do we!

  11. Your winter mantel is beautiful. All the elements you chose look FABULOUS against the beauty of the stone. UGH… frozen pipes. We had that once too. What a disaster. I do hope you kiddos get at least one good snow this winter… without the "pipes" thing!
I hope I can come and see your home before Haven this summer.

  12. I adore your mantel, Laura! Love that you kept some greens to add warmth, and your snowball theme is perfect. BTW, the corbels under your mantel are gorgeous!

  13. Your mantel is so pretty, Laura! Love the fresh greens. Good luck with coaxing that elusive snow. (We've been having milder days here and my son even wore shorts to school this morning.)

  14. I for one would love to see some snow this year – as long as it is all gone within one day! lol Your wintery mantel is so pretty, Laura. I had fun partying with you at The Cozy Home Tour this week!

  15. We're supposed to get some snow here tomorrow – maybe I could put some in a cooler and ship it down to your kids!!! Beautiful mantel and perfect for winter – hope the kids do get some real snow this winter!

  16. Oh I just love your mantle!! I totally hear you about the snow! Usually in WA we get snow for sure in January and February, but so far only 1 day of snow. Love your snowflakes and Let It Snow sign. Adorable!!
