What’s the creepiest movie that you have ever seen? You know the one where the creep never seems to go away? Your hair stands up on the back of your neck kind of creep?
The one that gives you the heebie jeebies everytime you think about it creep?
My creep was The Birds. The 1963 horror flick directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Have you seen it?
This year I am paying homage to that creepy movie, with my own version of ‘my birds’.
But there are a few minor differences between Hitchcock’s version and the Top This Top That version.
For one, this is not Bodega Bay, California. It is my side entrance to my home in Northeast Georgia. And those creepy black crows that you see in my corn stalks……..
they are not the real deal either, just some black birds I picked up at dollar store……. but creepy just the same. And don’t worry, they don’t fly. I have secured them pretty well with floral wire. They are not going anywhere.
And the only bird hitting the door at my house, and not my window, is the one attached to my black burlap wreath. You can see my other creepy versions for the wreath here and here. Be not afraid.
And to tone the creep down a bit, I added some pumpkins and lanterns…….and unlike the movie, I couldn’t fit a phone booth on the porch. Which is totally okay cause that’s the part that really creeps me out. How about you?
So, if I’m so creeped out by “The Birds” then why would I have them greeting you at my door, you ask……. well the truth is, I had all these corn husks and didn’t know what else to do with them, so I sprayed them lightly with some white spray paint and added the birds. Besides, I am not much into witches, devils and ghosts….they really scare me.
and just maybe, I am hoping that all of those birds will keep the deer from eating my fall flowers that I just planted!
Perfect balance of style and creep! And I hated the part when they went up to the attic ….
🙂 Linda
