Family Room Teaser
Do you ever get ahead of yourself….
and fall behind at the same time?
Chomping at the bit to start a new project, only to look around at all the unfinished one’s?
So that be me…and my family room.
The hangout.
The hub.
The place where the family congregates.
The place where I have no chance at the TV remote, and just lovingly smile through another episode of How’s It Made with my husband.
But see this is where I get ahead of myself, wanting to show you the latest changes to the space without sharing the history and the “few” transformations of the room.
Oh and before I forget…did I tell you that this space that we all cuddle up on the couch on, was not even intended to be a family room and rather a screened in porch?
See after a “favorable” builder blunder, meaning we were actually glad that he screwed up, we were able to create a fully functional room by putting in windows and some solid flooring.
And just as fast as that remote changed the TV, so did the colors and styles of the space. We installed a wood burning stove and years later an air conditioning unit, so until then, the room was primarily used in the fall and winter months….
Thus my fall like color pallet.
So after installing the air conditioner and feeling cooler, we quickly realized that we wanted to make better use of the space, but not until I decided to lighten it up and change out the furniture for a more “sun room” feel.
I think it’s when we found a solution to move our TV into the room, that we began to use the term “family room” more freely to describe the space. So walls were painted, furniture cycled it’s way throughout the house and all was good and cozy, until…….
I found this $10.00 coffee table.
More on that, my stone floors and the latest room changes coming soon. After all….. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, now do I.
So tell me , do you ever get ahead of yourself too?
So tell me , do you ever get ahead of yourself too?
Grateful for~
A loving husband of 14 years…. that I wish I knew my whole life

All the time. Can't wait to see more, but first the bedroom.
That coffee table is so pretty. I can't wait to see more. 🙂
I'm afraid that I suffer from the same malady as you, Laura. 😀 There doesn't seem to be any way that I can completely finish one project without having twelve others going on at the same time. Love all of the changes that you've shared so far in your family room and can't wait to see more!
Sure do. 🙂 When the creative ideas start flowing they usually come more than one at a time. Just go ahead and start…that way you are committed. Can't wait to see what you are up to. Love the coffee table. 🙂
Oh yes, all the time… can't wait to see all the changes!
I always get ahead of myself! I love the changes and I am so impressed with what you paid for that cute coffee table!

Story of my life! And, I love builder blunders like that … such a great space. Look forward to seeing the reveals of the bazillion products you've got going on!
Ha! Nice to know I'm in good company! 🙂 What a great score on your table!
Let's see … the dining room, living room, and master bedroom are all in various states of flux … a ladder is leaning up against the wall … and drop cloths never, ever get put away …
So yes, I get ahead of myself. And behind myself too!
🙂 Linda
Can't wait to see more. Hugs, Marty
I do get ahead and behind at the same time. And I do want to hear more on your stone floors. As of this morning I was only thinking of painting in my 3 season porch, but now I'm thinking I want floors like that. Is that an example of getting ahead and behind at the same time?

This one hit home today especially! I have not finished our family room yet, but am already pulling together pieces for my boy's room and our master redo….DIY ADD perhaps?

What a great space! I get ahead of myself ALL the time. I think I'd already bought everything that is going into our guest room before the room really got started. Sometimes I buy things so far ahead of time that when it comes to the actual execution I've already changed my mind. Turns out I'm really fickle:/
Laura…you are always juggling many projects…with teases of each room…but i love a good tease…your floor plan is huge!!…and I can see why you closed that room in!..Yes, always getting ahead of myself…hubby always reminding me to focus…I love your closing at the end of your post…I feel the same way, but will not tell you how many years!!..but I can say that I have known him since the 2nd grade…
You're all over the map – but that's how I roll too! Go $10 diva!

We're kindred spirits, Laura! Glad to know I'm not alone — if I don't have 3 or 4 or 20 projects in process at once, I wouldn't know what to do. 🙂
TGIF!

I can so relate! I am with you 100 percent and Heidi! If I didn't have 1000 projects open I probably would think I was on the moon! 10 dollars…that is AWESOME!!!! sending hugs and thoughts your way!
Wow, what an amazing space to start with and it looks like you have done an incredible job transforming it… The table is adorable and a 10$ find!! You can't beat that!!

Oh, all the time. Love the peek and it looks like a great room. I love denim sofa slips and miss the ones I made several years ago (the couches wore out.)
