How to make a Flower Arrangement go the extra mile and other Fall Arrangements
When I have to spend money on flowers , it makes me cringe particularly when I can grow and use my own. This time of the year though presents some challenges when some of my favorites are not in growing season. So when I bought this bouquet for $25.00
(yes, it pains me) the other day at the grocery store, I knew that I wanted to get every bit of my money out of them.
The first arrangement that I made was this centerpiece. You can read more about my Aunt Mable and the centerpiece here.
From there I wanted to create a smaller centerpiece for the lunch table. For my base filler I used fresh fruit and then tucked the flower stems in the center to conceal.
And with a few blooms left, I created smaller arrangements for some hostess gifts. I used mason jars and tied them with burlap. I added a few sticks from the yard to create a more rustic, woodsy feel to the arrangement.

Laura, adding the twigs really does add an additional dimension to your arrangement! I love the burlap tied around the jar top, too. I'm in charge of making table arrangements for a benefit, so I'm pinning this idea!

What a great way to use your bouquet! I love the smaller arrangements that you created, especially using the burlap and twigs in a mason jar. I have used miniature pumpkins before to make several small arrangements down the center of the table.

The smaller the arrangements became the more sweet and lovely they became. Not saying the original centerpiece wasn't beautiful, just that the smaller ones are the type I could use and appreciate every day. Its been quite a while since I had flowers in the house, but after the initial day or two of enjoyment, if I wanted to stretch their use to over the weekend, I would pull a few out and put them in water in the fridge, then bring them out again. Works pretty well!
The arrangements are beautiful! I really like the one with the pears and lemons base! I try to make mine stretch too! Being that flowers have different durations, I pare my arrangements down and/or even split them into smaller arrangements as some begin to die!

Such beautiful inspiration. I usually just bung flowers in a vase and hope for the best, you make them look likes works of art! I especially love the burlap tied round the top of the jar – so effective and so simple – doh!
