Magazines or Sheet Music?
I brought this thrifty find home the other day, but I am clearly in a state of confusion.
Not because of how pretty it looks once I cleaned it up and
painted it
or that it’s a perfect size as an accent piece and easy to move around the room
But this, this is what’s got me stumped
I don’t know if it was intended to hold my magazines or to hold sheet music. I feel guilty sitting there in that chair reading Southern Living when I think I should be standing up playing the flute.
Or perhaps it’s a pulpit for a really short preacher.
Maybe I should be at church!
What do you think- Magazines, Sheet Music or Pulpit?

I don't know what it's supposed to be used for, Laura, but I like it! A lot!
Hmmmm … a beautiful table with a split personality … love it! You did a fabulous job making it pretty.
Like that piece. Probably magazines since a music stand would be vertical so they can read the music.
I don't know either…but it certainly is pretty!
I would guess sheet music! Love what your doing with it though too! Great piece!
Oh my goodness, who cares what it was for, but WOW and I in love with it now! Ohhh boy I had better wipe the drool away from my mouth because that is exactly something I would LOVE to find for my house!!! You rock!

Can you play the flute? If not, then this DEFINITELY was made for magazines. It's adorable. Such a unique find.
it could have also had a pull out shelf for more surface… i have seen tables like that before with a teeny knob and you pull it out and voila, more space! it's so pretty- love the distressing!
I say magazines. Such a cute table!
I love it, Laura. I think it is an old music stand that they used. There was a similar one in Gramma Clara's house and she was a concert pianist and a music teacher. It is just wonderful!!!! xo Diana
Such a cute piece…whatever it is!! Hugs, Penny
Cute, cute table…So very pretty sitting next to the chair…love the bottle!
May be a telephone table and hold a phone book — a very thin phone book.
I agree with PJ Harrison—I think it may have been a phone table. Back in the day phone books were much thinner than they are now. Of course it can be whatever you want it to be!
I have a vintage pulpit and it it slanted and much taller. We live in a small town and our phone book would fit in there nicely. Anyway it's charming.
wow, not sure, but I'm thinking magazines. Love it 🙂
Stunning. It says "I love you, I will be whatever you want me to be." Regena in Tn.
yeah…phone table
It's a great little table. Gosh, if you can play the flute, that'd be perfect! 🙂
I like that it holds magazines, but that's because I don't play any musical instruments.
Have a great day.
Pam
Great photography and gorgeous inspiration!
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
I saw an older table a few days ago that had a little pull out tray where you would place your coaster and drink thereby leaving your lamp, etc in place.
Just a midget who was recovered and rejoiced thanks to your artsy hands.
Now it's thinking it should be a Grand Pulpit but I do think it's to hold books… not magazines, but books. And it comes to my mind the pictures and movies we've seen of past centuries and the Lady is holding the book in her hand, so more or less the size to fill that space. Souther Living wasn't probably edited back then.
We have, in my Country, a revival of the trend with some magazines being printed in a pocket version… maybe they have an eye on your table LOL
My guess is that it is a phone table, and the space below is for the phone book.
My daughter plays the flute so you can just send it on this way! lol Love it!!
I love music, so I would say sheet music! It turned out so pretty–love the distressing your did on it to bring out all those lovely curves.
Side table is perfect – so no worries… 🙂
It is beautiful no matter what you use it for! So pretty!
Take care,
Trish
I have a beautiful side table that has a pull out shelf that is painted with a waterproof finish. It is to put drinks or food on so one doesn't damage the finished top of the table. Possibly that shelf is missing on your table?
Just loving it no matter what it is!!!
Beautiful 🙂
I think it's a small telephone stand…for a Cottage sized home and a little phone book or address book maybe.

Super cute- I would guess sheet music too. Thanks for linking up at Feathered Nest Friday!
