Will the Dude Appreciate The Housewarming Gift?

I am wondering if my nephew will appreciate this table that I picked up at a Goodwill Shop.

Or better yet, the price tag.

I know, perhaps I’ll show him how his little cousin wanted to help with the makeover.

And hopefully he will start to see it come together

a little more

and more

until an 11th hour decision turned in to this

and I show up at his new house with this

and hopefully he will appreciate it!
Initially, I thought maybe I should paint a checkerboard because of the great wood inlay’s on the top, but then I realized
he would rather impress the chicks then play checkers!

The colors I used for the table are White Wheat from Porter Paint, and  Dark Walnut from mini wax on the top.

  1. Love it!! I'm sure he will appreciate having furniture. I can't guarantee he'll understand the work that went into, though. That might be asking a lot from a 20 something male in his first apartment! 🙂

I've pinned this for future reference!

    1. Kristin- Thanks! for this project I used White Wheat a color from Porter Paint. It is my favorite for an off white/light cream color. The top is some dark walnut stain. I also used a wax on the top only.

  2. Take it from a dude. If a chick likes the table, the dude will think it's the very thing. But are you sure you don't want to keep it? Oh yeah: dudes love distressing because they don't have to be so careful with it. Bravo.

  3. So pretty (can it be pretty if it's for a guy?) – I like the dark top too. Thanks for linking up @ the Delectable Home!

  4. You just cinched it for me! I have a coffee table that has a somewhat similar top on it and I've been undecided as to whether or not leaving it stained and paint the rest or accent the design on the top, but I was leaning towards staining. After seeing how great this table turned out, I'm convinced I should just stain it & paint the rest.
