What to do with 1970ish furniture??
My girlfriend tapped into my love of restoring and painting furniture, and asked if I would help makeover a bedroom suite of furniture that she had. Gladly, I obliged.
She had a love for my Drab to Fab table and wanted to do everything in the ASCP Old White .
She was a beauty in her time, but it was time for some serious updating.
First thing was to wipe down all the furniture as it had been stored for quite a while. I removed all of the original hardware. I started with the drawers first and applied two coats of paint. Then, I used medium grit sandblock and distressed the edges.
For the dresser, I applied two coats of paint. I distressed all of the edges with my sand block and applied wax to the top and sides of the dresser.
Now it was time to put the hardware back on, problem was some of the hardware was missing ( I think my dog ate it- seriously!) This was the original hardware that I painted a satin nickel finish before I realized some of the pulls were missing.
So off to Lowes to find replacements. Convincing my friend that the pulls were a little outdated anyways, I chose some satin nickel knobs and pulls that I thought would work well with the style of her bedroom.
No more 1970’s look for her. I’d say she’s quite the trend setter.
And remember the night stand before I started the project
Well, he ain’t looking so bad either!
If you are visiting for the first time, I would love for you to come back or follow me either through Google or Linky followers. That way you can keep up with other inspiring projects that I am working on.

Laura I really need to have you come to my house!! I would love to do something with my white washed oak kitchen cabinets besides replace them for 26K.
Your talent amazes me! Lisa
next time I am there I will look at them. will be easter time! don't spend any money till i see them!
I love the transformation and you did such a great job! I really need to try the ASCP. Your friend has to be thrilled with the results.
Easiest stuff to work with! Buy a small sample, choose a project like a small table or frame and see for yourself!
Wow….. you are amazing!
Great transformation! I would love for you to stop by and link up at my linky party via: ourdelightfulhome.blogspot.com

What a huge difference! YOU did it again!!! I love it! Awesome!
Nice job Laura, I'll never get tired of dresser transformations as they remind me to buy every dresser I see at garage sales!
Hope your dog purged himself of his hardware.

This looks so great! I am definitely going to go with a chalk paint on my armoire. Thanks for linking up.
You did a wonderful job on rescuing and updating this old furniture. I think you made the right call to update the hardware….The white and the hardware give new life to this old piece. Thanks for sharing this week at my party. I'm your newest follower!
Looks great! Very updated! I just redid a similar dresser, too.
Looks really beautiful – love your transformation! Would love it even more if you stopped over to share it at my Creative Inspirations linky party happening now! Would love to have you there!

Lovely! The new hardware really does help to update it.
Looks great!! Love them!
Nice Job Laura. I love how you updated the knobs. I recently did a green dresser with those same handles. I'd love it if you came by and took a look. I'm just starting my blog and only have a few pieces. But I'd love to get "linked". Still trying to learn my way around. Beth….Makemeprettyagain.blogspotcom…..
I have a great bedroom suite just like this that I'd like to do, but I am honestly afraid. I'm not into big pieces. I can redo anything small. Any hints that you can share on how you paint, spray, brush, kind of paint. All the rave about Annie Sloan's paint and I was terribly dissapointed. The no sand didn't work.
they look so much better! it is amazing what paint and hardware can do for a piece!
HI LOVE YOUR WORK! WHAT WAX ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SO I'LL KNOW WHAT KIND TO GET??
Wow! So pretty, amazing what paint can do. I am always thrilled with a paint makeover, they never get old. Wonderful job, and one handed at that 😉
Gorgeous! You've really made this shine! I too never get tired of seeing what paint can do for a worn out piece. 🙂 Great job!
